CGN wins honor for innovative social communication

China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), China's largest nuclear power operator, received an award for its innovative efforts on social public communication, at the fourth forum on electric power enterprises’ public transparency in Beijing on Nov 24.

At the awarding ceremony, the forum sponsors praised CGN for its progress in public communication. “CGN has carried out activities for years for better communication with the public, making innovation in both style and content. One of its highlights - ‘Aug 7 Public Open Day’ is worthy of learning and promotion as it presents the features of nuclear power companies and is also significant in enhancing public communication.”

CGN also shared some wedding photos taken at its nuclear power plant (NPP) at the forum, winning acclaim from experts and peers.

The “Most beautiful wedding photos taken at a NPP” is one of CGN’s innovative moves in social communication. On this year’s “Public Open Day”, the company invited 30 couples nationwide to take free wedding photos at the Daya Bay nuclear power base, in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.

This move not only showcased the base's attractive scenery and promoted nuclear power in a vivid way, it also displayed a clean, safe and environmental-friendly NPP to the public.

The three-month-long activity has become a hot issue for domestic nuclear power enterprises, attracting the attention and participation of 9 million people. Apart from being reported by People’s Daily for two consecutive days, the event has gained the recognition of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, National Energy Administration, National Nuclear Safety Administration and State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.
