CGN received an urgent letter from the Chinese embassy in Namibia on Jan 14, which recognizes CGN Swakop Uranium Co Ltd as an advanced unit in compliance management and cultural construction.
In 2018, Swakop made great strides in the quality of its operations and management through adjustments in personnel, optimizing its organizational structure, boosting productivity, controlling costs, and upgrading security. More than 1,600 Chinese and foreign employees came together to increase mining productivity.
Zhang Yiming, Chinese ambassador to Namibia, spoke highly of Swakop’s contribution to boosting local economic development and employment, and praised it as a model for other Chinese companies in Namibia.
Zhang expects Swakop to maintain its momentum and help build anticipation for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which will help forge closer China-Africa ties and propel Belt and Road development.
