CGN Swakop Uranium Co Ltd has recently received an authentication certificate from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) that endorses the company to pass the QMS-EMS-OHS certification under ISO9001-2015, ISO14001-2015, and ISO45001-2018 standards.
ISO9001-2015, ISO14001-2015, and ISO45001-2018 are the latest standards set by the International Organization for Standardization for quality management systems (QMS), environment management systems (EMS), and occupational health and safety (OHS), respectively.
Previously, Swakop had already received three-in-one certification in several fields, including mining in December 2016 and hydrometallurgy in May 2017. Preparation work for the overall certification began in late 2018.
The company submitted an application to LRQA and rectified problems that LRQA assessors pointed out during their on-site inspection. The rectifications were fully approved by LRQA, which recommended Swakop for certification registration.
This process will help the company meet international standards and normalize its quality, environment, and occupational health and safety management systems.
