CGN partners EC in sewage treatment

2019-04-13

CGN Environment Protection Industry Co Ltd will cooperate with the Czech Republic-based Environment Commerce CZ s.r.o. (EC) in sewage treatment.

A cooperation agreement was signed by Shi Bing, senior vice president of CGN, and Georgi Bidenko, executive director of EC, during the 8th Summit of Central and Eastern European Countries & China in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on April 12.

Prior to the signing ceremony, Bidenko discussed the project with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, speaking highly of CGN’s professionalism and spirit of openness and cooperation. Babis was particularly pleased with local hi-tech enterprises entering the Chinese market and taking part in its infrastructure construction.

According to agreement, CGN and EC will enjoy in-depth cooperation in the design and construction of sewage treatment plants, as well as introducing small-scale integrated sewage treatment devices and advanced sewage treatment technology.

The first cooperation project is a sewage treatment plant in Xiangyang Hi-tech Development Zone of Hubei province, which is set to process 30,000 tons of waste water daily. It will adopt EC-developed EAA vertical smart sewage treatment technology.

Compared with traditional methods, EAA technology saves space by 2/3 and greatly reduces infrastructure construction needs, thereby shortening the construction period and lowering operation costs.

The outlet water can reach Class-IV surface water quality or higher, which can be used as reclaimed water. An odorless plant area and enclosed landscape design also help to incorporate the concept of ecological sharing.

Moving forward, the two sides will also cooperate in environmentally-friendly and cost-efficient sewage treatment projects in Jiangxi’s Fuzhou and several other locations.

CGN Environment Protection Industry Co Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CGN, is a provider of one-stop solutions to environmental protection issues and whole-industrial-chain services. It currently has 30 qualifications for the design, construction and operation of environmental protection projects, and has accumulated experience across more than 1,200 cases related to urban water supply and industrial sewage treatment. Projects are under construction or due to be built across Guangdong, Xinjiang, Yunnan, Sichuan, Shandong, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Hubei and Xiongan New Area.

The company uses over 50 advanced environmental protection technologies acquired through independent R&D and introductions. It has set up an environment treatment laboratory, and industry-university-research cooperation platforms in collaboration with research institutes and universities such as Tsinghua University and Harbin Institute of Technology. A Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Environmental Research Institute and an environmental protection academician workstation are also in the pipeline.

EC was created from the Water Management Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1990 and has grown into a supplier of world leading water treatment and resources recycling technology. Its technology has been applied in over 2,000 cases in more than 40 countries. The company mainly works in urban and rural sewage, special industrial wastewater and watershed treatment.

As a domestically leading clean energy enterprise, CGN has actively responded to national calls to strengthen ecological civilization construction, promote green development, and develop the environmental protection industries in recent years. It has developed technologies related to plasma-based industrial solid waste treatment, electron beam-based industrial waste water and antibiotics residue treatment. Significant progress has also been made in the fields of biomass energy and river pollution treatment.

The China-Czech cooperation is an important measure for CGN to promote green and high-quality development under the Belt and Road Initiative.
