The world's largest electron beam treatment of industrial wastewater project is officially put into operation


Today is June 5th, "World Environment Day". The world's largest electron beam treatment of industrial wastewater project was completed and put into operation in Guanhua Knitting Factory in Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, marking that China's independent innovation of electronic beam pollution control technology has taken the lead in the world and entered the stage of large-scale commercial application. The project, constructed by CGN Nuclear Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CGNNT", stock code: 000881.SZ), a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Group ("CGN" for short) has realized the online operation of 7 electron accelerators and daily wastewater treatment up to 30,000 tons, providing a solution and a benchmark for the comprehensive treatment of industrial wastewater in China and the world.

On the same day, CGNNT held the handover ceremony of the "World's Largest Electron Beam Treatment of Industrial Wastewater Project" and the Electron Beam Pollution Control Technology Promotion Conference in Xinhui, Jiangmen. In the meeting, CGNNT handed over the project to Guanhua Knitting Factory and signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement. The two parties agreed to continue in-depth cooperation in the construction, renovation and operation of sewage treatment systems in the future. At the same time, CGNNT Dasheng Electron Accelerator Technology Co., LTD ("CGN Dasheng" for short), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CGN, signed a cooperation agreement with Juancheng Fengqingyuan Environmental Protection Co., LTD. The two parties will conduct research and cooperation on the treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater by electron beam technology.

Trial operation data in the past six months shows that the chemical oxygen demand (COD) of the printing and dyeing wastewater of the project has dropped from 200 mg/L to less than 50 mg/L, and the chromaticity has decreased from 80 ~ 100 times to about 10 times without color reversion, and the effluent quality has reached national and local direct discharge standards, the proportion of wastewater reuse reaches 70%, saving 4.5 million tons of water annually, reducing COD emissions by 1,000 tons, and the relevant technical and economic indicators meet the preset goals.

"According to the project operation data, after the introduction of electron beam technology, on one hand, the service life of the back-end industrial RO membrane (industrial reverse osmosis membrane) has been increased by at least 50%; On the other hand, the biodegradability of the membrane rejected water has been improved, and the annual cost savings is at least 10 million yuan. This fully shows that the technology of electron beam treatment of industrial wastewater is fully mature and can be applied and promoted on a large scale worldwide." Hu Dongming, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of CGNNT, said that the technology has more than 30 invention patents, and based on the stable operation for three years of Zhejiang Jinhua demonstration project completed and put into operation in 2017, a number of technologies and process have been upgraded and improved, with higher power of electron accelerator, stronger wastewater treatment capacity, and more significant effect of effluent water.

The technology of electron beam treatment of industrial wastewater is jointly developed by CGN and Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology, Tsinghua University ("INET"). INET has the advantage of basic research on electron beam radiation and other environmental protection technologies. CGN has a complete high-end industrial chain of nuclear technology applications with electron accelerators as its core, which has the advantage of industrialization. Under the joint efforts of both parties for many years, the electron beam treatment of industrial wastewater technology has achieved a major breakthrough in the field of environmental pollution control in the world, formed a core equipment and treatment process with completely independent intellectual property rights, and formulated the world's first technical standard for the application of electron beam treatment of industrial wastewater, filling the gap in the international standards.

With the mature application of electron beam irradiation technology in the field of industrial wastewater treatment, CGNNT and Tsinghua University carried out technology extension research and application. At present, successive breakthroughs have been made and industrialized applications have been achieved in the fields of harmless treatment of antibiotic bacteria residues, disinfection and sterilization of medical wastewater, and irradiation preservation of agricultural products. Relevant demonstrations are under construction in Yining, Xinjiang, Shiyan, Hubei, and Baise, Guangxi, etc.. At the same time, it has made application breakthroughs in the fields of harmless treatment of medical waste, full quantitative treatment of waste penetrant, and advanced treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater.
