CGN’s Husab Uranium Mine Kicks of Mining Production


    CGN’s Husub Uranium Mine in Namibia Kicked off mining production on May 8, 2014 at the site situated about 60 km from the coastal city of Swakopmund.

    Husab Uranium Mine is said to hold about 280 million tonnes of uranium ore, number three in the world. It is the biggest Chinese investment in Africa.

    The mine construction will create 6,000 temporary jobs and 1,600 permanent jobs when the mine goes into full production.

    In addition, the Husab mine, which is to deliver yearly output of 6,500 tonnes of uranium core, is expected to boost the Namibian gross domestic product by 5 percent, plus 20% growth in export.
