Zhang Shanming, male, born in 1964, is Vice-Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of CGN. After joining Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co. in August 1984, he worked successively as a deputy branch manager and branch manager of the operations licensing branch of the production department, assistant manager, deputy manager and manager (mainly responsible for production management) of the production department at Guandong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co. from July 1995 to January 2003. Since January 2003 he has served successively as the chief economist, senior vice president and president at CGN. He also served as the chairman of the board of CGN Engineering Co from February 2006 to June 2008, the chairman of the board of CNP Technology Research Institute from May 2008 to June 2011, and the chairman of the board of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Co from February 2009 to June 2011.
Zhang obtained a bachelor of engineering degree in thermal power at power plants from Zhejiang University in July 1984, a master of business administration degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in July 2002, and a doctor of economics degree in finance from Wuhan University in June 2012. He attended training on operations management and safety supervision in Electricite De France and the UK’s General Electric Co from April 1989 to December 1990. Zhang was accredited as a researcher-level senior engineer by CGN in December 2001.
