1978 - 1994

  • On Dec. 4, 1978, after meeting the Foreign Trade Minister of France, Deng Xiaoping announced that China would purchase 2 nuclear power plants from France. The Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant project in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province was launched.

  • On Aug. 7, 1987, the construction began on the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant.

  • On Feb. 1 and May 6, 1994, the Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant began their respective commercial operations.

1995 - 2004

  • On May 15, 1997, witnessed the official commencement of the construction of Ling Ao Phase I Nuclear Power Plant.

  • On May 28, 2002 and Jan 8, 2003, Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Ling Ao Phase I Nuclear Power Plant began their respective commercial operations.

2005 - 2010

  • On Dec. 15, 2005, witnessed the official commencement of the construction of Ling Ao Phase II Nuclear Power Plant.

  • On Oct. 26, 2006, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPG) and Electricite de France (EDF) signed a general agreement on nuclear power production, construction and project development.

  • Construction of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant began in 2007, together with construction of other nuclear power plants in Ningde Fujian Province, Yangjiang Guangdong Province, Taishan Guangdong Province and Fangchenggang, Guangxi Province.

  • On April Apr. 29, 2009, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group and the National Atomic Company of Kazakhstan set up a Joint Venture, Semizbai-U LLP, in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan to jointly develop uranium resources.

  • On Dec. 21, 2009, the Vice-premier of the State Council Li Keqiang and French Premier François Fillon attended the commencement ceremony of the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant and the founding ceremony of Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co., Ltd.

  • On June Jun. 9, 2010, representatives from CGN Uranium Resources Company and the mining industry of Navoi Uzbekistan signed the Natural Uranium Trade Contract.

2011 - 2015

  • On Jan.1, 2012, Phase II of Licun, Korea Power Plant of Fuel Cells of Meiya Power began commercial operations, adopting technology from the American FCEL Energy Company. It was the largest as well as the most advanced fuel cell unit worldwide.

  • On Jun. 8, 2012, CGN Wind Power Co., Ltd. and Jinfeng Technology Co., Ltd. signed an equity agreement on the acquisition of Australia’s Morton’s Lane wind power project.

  • On Nov. 8, 2012, construction of the Husab Uranium Mine, the third largest uranium mine in the world, began.

  • From 2013, several units of Ningde Nuclear Power Plant, Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant and Yangjiang NuclearPower Plant successively began their commercial operations.

  • On April Apr.26, 2003, SAIC approved that the group and group company were renamed as China General Nuclear Power Group and China General Nuclear Power Corporation respectively.

  • On Nov. 25, 2013,CGN and the Romania National Nuclear Power Company signed a letter of intent on jointly developing the Units 3 and 4 of the Cernavod Nuclear Power Plant.

  • On June Jun. 18, 2014, CGN UK Representative Office was established in London.

  • On Aug. 22, 2014, CGN and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) signed an HPR1000 technology integration agreement.

  • On Oct. 8, 2014, CGN Meiya Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (stock code: 1811HK) was successfully listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

  • On Oct .14, 2014, CGN became the final investor of Units 3 and 4 of Romania’s Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant.

  • On Dec. 10, 2014, CGN Power (Stock code: 1816.HK) was successfully listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

  • On Dec. 14, 2014, CGN and Kazatomprom signed an agreement on expanding cooperation on nuclear energy.

  • On Oct. 19, 2015, General Nuclear International Limited (GNI) was established in London, UK.

  • On Oct. 21, 2015, CGN and EDF formally signed an investment agreement on a UK nuclear new build project. The Chinese consortium led by CGN will invest in and construct the UK Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Project, and develop the nuclear power projects of Sizewell C (SZC) and Bradwell B (BRB).

  • On Nov. 9, 2015, CGN and the Romania National Nuclear Power Company signed a memorandum of understanding for development, construction, operation and decommissioning of units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant.

  • On Nov .23, 2015, CGN and the Edra Global Energy Bhd signed an agreement on purchasing the equity and new project development right of the power project company affiliated to Edra.

  • On Nov. 29, 2015, Dalian International announced that it would buy shares in seven companies already related to it including the nuclear technology company, which would make China Dalian International the controlling shareholder.

  • On Dec. 14, 2015, CGN and Kazatomprom signed a commercial agreement on the design and construction of a fuel components company to jointly exploit uranium in KZ.

  • On Dec. 22, 2015, CGN Mining Company Ltd. and Canada Fission Company signed a letter of interest, by which CGN planned to subscribe for 19.99% of the shares of the Canadian company.

  • On Dec. 23, 2015, CGN, Guangxi Investment Company Ltd. and RATCH, a subsidiary of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, signed a joint venture agreement on Phase II of the Fangchenggang nuclear power project.

  • On Dec. 24, 2015, HPR1000 demonstration unit, which is also the Phase II of the Fangchenggang nuclear power project, formally began construction.

  • On Dec. 30, 2015, Hualong International Nuclear Technology Company was established.
