CGN New Energy Holdings Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), will launch an “internet of energy” project in Yunnan province after signing an energy agreement with the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Department on May 26.
Internet of energy, also referred to as “Internet Plus Smart Energy”, focuses on integrating energy production, transmission, storage and consumption with the market and the internet.
Located at Yunnan Airport International Science and Technology Innovation Park, the project is scheduled to break ground late this year and finish in 2019. Upon completion, it will be the first energy internet project put into commercial operation in Yunnan.
The project will include a platform on smart energy and sub-systems to monitor and control the park’s energy, such as the temperature, electricity and hot water.
It also aims to promote the integration of the internet and energy industries, drive the development of smart energy production and consumption, and become a green and low-carbon demonstration base in China, and even South Asia and Southeast Asia.
