The opening ceremony of the 13th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) commenced in Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Sept 11, where China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) demonstrated its latest nuclear technology.
As the largest nuclear power operator in China, CGN has been invited to the exhibit for six years in a row. This year’s attendance still attracted considerable attention, especially with the appearance of the ACPR50S/100Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and nuclear fuel.
The exhibition stall stood in the Electricity Area against a striking blue background. CGN’s brand image as a world-class clean energy group was prominently displayed through illustrations of its achievements in R&D, clean energy, new reactor designs and a mature nuclear power industry supply chain. The company also showed that it takes its corporate responsibilities seriously, by heavily promoting the importance of clean forms of energy to visitors.
The HPR1000（Hualong-1）, one of the Chinese Generation-III nuclear technologies with independent intellectual property rights, has been positioned as the first technology of the Chinese nuclear industry for the “Going global” strategy. It’s the third time it has been displayed at the expo. Visitors showed a great deal of interest in the clean, safe and economical product, as well as its design.
Moreover, the offshore SMR ACPR 50S made its debut as a self-developed and designed nuclear technology. Supplying reliable and stable power for offshore oil and gas exploration, along with the development of islands, it is another achievement adding towards efforts to build China into a maritime power.
To enhance public recognition and trust for the nuclear power industry, the exhibit stand was supplied with a Q&A machine. A WeChat photo printer was also available, attracting many young visitors.
Chen Jian, general manager of Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power, made a keynote speech at the Seventh China-ASEAN Electric Power Cooperation & Development Forum. Jiang Nan, general manager of the International Department of CGN New Energy Holdings, also joined in the talks between Vietnamese leaders and Chinese entrepreneurs.
The CAEXPO is co-sponsored by ministries/department of commerce or industry and trade of China and the 10 ASEAN member states, as well as the ASEAN Secretariat. The sole platform aimed at a China-ASEAN FTZ has been successfully concluded for 12 sessions so far, and has facilitated cooperation between Chinese nuclear power corporations and ASEAN countries. CGN is the designated enterprise to lead in the ASEAN market expansion by the National Energy Administration.
