CGN wind farm contributes to a green Olympics

2019-12-16

The booster station for the phase III of CGN’s Dongshan Wind Farm was connected to grid for power generation on Dec 14.

The 200MW project, located at the north of Daqinggou town in Shangyi county, Zhangjiakou, Hebei province, is abundant in wind resources. It is equipped with 100 wind turbines that feature an installed capacity of 2MW per unit.

Upon completion, it will generate 526 million kWh of electricity, which will reduce the consumption of standard coal by 158,300 tons, the generation of smoke and dust by 101.18 tons, carbon dioxide emissions by 457,900 tons, sulfur dioxide emissions by 369.18 tons, and oxynitride emissions by 944.95 tons annually compared with thermal power generation of the same scale.

This will greatly improve local energy structure and boost the ecological economy. Most importantly, the project will contribute to the green energy supply for Zhangjiakou, an important venue for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Every kWh of electricity used at all venues for the event will come from clean energy.
