As of August 28, Yangjiang Nuclear Power Unit 1 has operated safely for 2500 days.
Since commercial operation on March 25, 2014, Yangjiang Nuclear Power Unit 1 has adhered to the basic principle of “Safety First, Quality Foremost and Pursuing Excellence”, comprehensively practiced the work style of “Strict Compliance, Prudent Decision-making, Detail-oriented and Fact-based Approach”, and continuously maintained the safe and stable operation. Among the 12 WANO (World Association of Nuclear Operators) PWR performance indicators, 10 indicators（accounting for more than 80%）of Yangjiang Nuclear Power Unit 1 reached advanced level in 2020 and 2021.
As of June 30, Yangjiang Nuclear Power Unit 1 has cumulatively achieved on-grid power generation of 57.63 billion kWh, with equivalent carbon dioxide emission reduction effect of about 47.95 million tons, which is equivalent to planting 130000 hectares of forest, actively contributing to China’s Goal of “peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060”.
Yangjiang Nuclear Power Unit 1 once set the best record for the first cycle of operation in all nuclear bases of CGN in 2015, and won the title of “Star Unit of the Year” of CGN in 2017.
Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station is a key energy construction project in the National 11th Five-Year Plan. The station adopts CPR1000 and its advanced technology which is China's home-grown pressurized water reactor nuclear power technology, and is approved for construction of 6×1000MWe pressurized water reactor nuclear power units at one time. It is an important symbol of the large-scale, serialization and standardized development of nuclear power in China. It not only provides clean energy and optimizes the energy structure for the local area, It also plays a positive role in promoting the upgrade of nuclear power industry and local economic development.
