Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), CGN has been concerned with the epidemic and felt duty-bound to contribute with its strengths by helping solve the shortage of drugs, as well as disinfectant and protective supplies.

CGN Energy International Holdings Co Ltd reached out to other regional companies overseas on Jan 29 to learn about the feasibility of purchasing urgently needed medical supplies in their respective locations, as well as the transportation means.

N95 medical masks arrive at Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science & Technology

On the same night, a CGN overseas branch managed to find a batch of qualified N95 medical masks that could be donated to quarantined wards in Wuhan’s frontline hospitals. It placed the orders immediately after receiving the approval from headquarters and the masks were put into production on Jan 31.

Despite the surging order intake, CGN coordinated with the manufacturer to proceed with its order first. The company’s employees not only worked overtime to finish production in five days, half of the required time, but also recorded a video cheering on Wuhan.

The 72,000 N95 medical masks were loaded on a flight bound for China on Feb 7 and went through customs clearance in Shanghai on Feb 12. They were then transported overnight to eight Wuhan hospitals, including Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science & Technology and Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science & Technology.

Of particular note, the General Hospital of Chinese People's Armed Police Forces in Central China shared its resources considerately with other hospitals in urgent need.
