August 7 this year, is the eighth consecutive year of the “8·7 Public Open Experience Day” activities, it is also Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Ningde Nuclear Power”) carried out the eighth edition of public open experience day activities, in order to promote scientific popularization and national scientific quality, promote nuclear safety culture, Ningde Nuclear Power invited nearly 40 teachers and students from Fuding Primary and Middle School to take part in the summer camp, to learn about Ningde nuclear power station on site, participate in an experience activity full of attractions.
Attraction 1: Nuclear Power Station Overview
At 9 a.m., summer camp students carry out temperature test and information check one by one at the gate of Ningde Nuclear Power Base Cross-sea Bridge, go into Ningde Nuclear Power Base orderly. Standing on the viewing terrace which is close to mountain and beside river, everyone overlooks the huge, neat and orderly-built nuclear power buildings. Ningde Nuclear Power guide introduces the basic situation of Ningde nuclear power unit to these students.

Seeing the lush tea garden, these students ask curiously: “Is this white tea? How could it be in the nuclear power plant?” “Yes, this tea garden was preserved during the construction of the nuclear power plant, it is no pesticides, green and pollution-free, and has a good name called “peace tea” …….”, These interesting interactive questions and answers arouse their initiative fully, and burst into applauses from time to time.

Attraction 2: VR Plant Roaming

In the Nuclear Energy Convention and Exhibition Center, students ask the guide many questions about “how nuclear energy is converted into electricity”, “What should we consider when deciding the site of nuclear power plant”, and “how nuclear fuel is loaded into units”. They learn the principle of nuclear power generation, the process of nuclear fuel loading and unloading, the basic knowledge of nuclear power, and experience the VR equipment on the spot, simulate going into the nuclear power plant, and watch the internal structure of the plant on the spot.

Attraction 3: Visit Simulator in close range

Following then, these students come to the training center to visit the full-scope simulator and look around curiously. The teacher introduces the simulator which is 1:1 simulation to simulate the working scene of the main control room, and how the operator operating the equipment.
Attraction 4: Build “Nuclear Power Station” by themselves

Finally, in order to let these students have a better understanding of the structure of the nuclear power unit, the staff organize a competition for assembling model nuclear power unit. In the process of competition, these students were totally devoted to it, carried out team work together to build a nuclear power plant. When displaying the finished works, they presented full of sense of success.

“From today's experience activities of nuclear power plants, I learned a lot of knowledge and that nuclear power plants are safe and clean, and hope to work at nuclear power plants after growing up”. At the end of this activation, students express their feelings of participating in the experience and say goodbye to the staff reluctantly.
