On August 7, the CGN 8th “8.7 Public Open Experience Day” came as expected. Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (“Fangchenggang Nuclear Power”) invited these children from Longhuai Village Central Primary School in Lingyun County, which is the one-on-one-support school, to visit the base this year, they enjoy traveling around the Western First Nuclear Power and feel the charm of nuclear power.
Embrace the sea for the first time
After six hours of bus ride, 37 teachers and students from Longhuai Village Center Primary School arrived in Fangchenggang City. Under the leadership of the staff, they visited Fangchenggang City first. It was the first experience for teachers and students to see the magnificent sea, constantly changing neon lights in the city night sky, and many people and heavy traffic on the street...... Teachers and students all excited about the trip.
The magic trip
On the day of the activity, everyone got up and finished their breakfast early. Everyone was full of curiosity about the science exhibition hall, could hardly wait to run to the science exhibition hall. Under the leadership of Zhuang Ethnic “little brother” and “little sister”, they first learn about a slogan: “HPR1000, China’s pride!” These children from the remote mountains were deeply attracted by the exhibition hall, and stopped in front of each exhibition booth for a long time. “The nuclear fuel assembly is like a rocket.” Wei Xiaojuan of grade four exclaimed, pointing to HPR1000 model. In the VR experience area, these children lined up to experience “standing on top of a nuclear power plant”. When the reactor pressure vessel model started to operate, there was an exclamation in the crowd: “what a wonder!”
Although they are still young, but after the explanation, they can understand that nuclear power is pollution-free clean energy benefiting mankind, “is our household electricity from nuclear power?”, “is nuclear power plant really safe?”. These staff answered the children's “wonderful questions” one by one.
Nuclear power inspires the mind
After visiting the exhibition hall, they lined up to go to the training center. In the simulator classroom and practical training room, everyone started to feel the rigorous work style of nuclear power. When approaching the simulator classroom, they all consciously walked lightly for fear of disturbing the “students” in the classroom. The accompanying teacher Wang couldn’t help but say: “this is quieter than our class”. President Chen also couldn’t help but sigh: “Looking at these precision instruments, and the work attitude of nuclear power staff, I'm greatly shocked!”
When they returned to the multi-function hall, they still discussed what they had just seen and felt. President Chen said: “8.7 Public Open Experience Day is not only popular science, but also helps children broaden their horizons. I am so grateful to Fangchenggang Nuclear Power for caring for children”.
In the painting time, they were quickly divided into groups. Upon the memory of places they just visited, they were completely devoted into the creation. They just looked like a real “HPR1000” builder. “The cover (dome) is painted backwards, ha ha”. In the game, everyone competed to play nuclear power builders, wanted to become a “Nuclear Power Person”. Laughter was always heard in the venue, and the atmosphere of joy affected everyone.
Quietly, the staff brought in two big cakes. Everyone's eyes were instantly attracted by food. Children and staff shared food, and this year's “8·7 Public Open Experience Day” was coming to an end.
After lunch, with small gifts and brothers and sisters’ blessing, they got on the bus for the return trip. Two-day visit was not long, but it was a fresh experience for the children. Fangchenggang Company opened the door to the outside world for Lingyun County children little by little, planted seed of hope in their heart through supporting education, poverty alleviation, popular science and other activities.
