CGN promotes nuclear power at intl horticultural exhibition

2019-10-08

The CGN Clean Energy Science Popularization Themed Pavilion Day was held at the China Media Group’s CCTV Animation Pavilion during the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition on Oct 3.

Follow Hebao into the Animated World, a CGN clean energy science popularization activity hosted by Sesame Brother and Du Yue Sister from CCTV Children's Channel, attracted masses of visitors at the exhibition.

The dance of CGN’s science popularization mascot Hebao, as well as CCTV classic animation characters Big-head Son, Small-head Father, Marshmallow, and Cloud Mum, brought the visitors into the animated wonderland.

The interaction between Hebao and children was a highlight. As the young attendees peppered Hebao with questions like, "Hebao, how old are you?”, “Where were you born?", "Hebao, do you have radiation?", and "How does nuclear power generate electricity?”, the CGN mascot responded with witty and humorous answers, eliciting bursts of laughter and applause.

As the first science popularization robot in the nuclear power industry, Hebao has answered questions for tens of thousands of people on internet platforms and during various events since he debuted in 2018.

China’s self-developed third-generation nuclear power technology HPR 1000 also attracted attention at the exhibition. Many visitors stopped by the model of it and listened to the scientific explanation given by CGN staff. The billboards of CGN’s major nuclear power bases also piqued interest.

“Bringing our children to visit the animation pavilion not only gives us a taste of the beauty of Chinese animation and horticulture, but also provides us with scientific knowledge about nuclear power. This trip is worth it," said a parent from Shandong province who brought their children to the event.

The 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition has presented to attendees the ecological concept of "Make horticulture part of nature; Let nature touch the soul,” which echoes CGN's green development concept of "Natural energy powering nature."

The joint effort of CGN and CCTV animation in this event was a new cross-industry attempt to spread nuclear power information knowledge to the public. It allowed more people to learn about and understand nuclear power, raising their support for nuclear power development.

A state-owned enterprise focusing on clean energy development, CGN has been committed to spreading scientific information about nuclear power and other clean energy to the public, enhancing people’s understanding of clean energy.
