On October 12, the 16th China International Nuclear Industry Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as “NIE”) opened at the Beijing Exhibition Center. CGN took part in this exhibition with innovative scientific research achievements, such as China independent third generation nuclear power technology “HPR1000”, self-developed nuclear power robot series, electron beam irradiation treatment technology of industrial wastewater and plasma gasification and melting technology.

That morning, Mr. Pang Songtao, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Senior Vice President of CGN, attended the first meeting of the Party Committee of the ninth Council and the third meeting of Council of the Chinese Nuclear Society in 2020. After the meeting and the opening ceremony, Mr. Zhang Kejian, Member of Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Director of the China Atomic Energy Agency, Mr. Liu Hua, Member of Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Administrator of the National Nuclear Safety Administration, and Mr. Wang Shoujun, CPPCC standing member, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Council of China Nuclear Society, came to the CGN exhibition stand to listen to the “HPR1000” and other relevant information, Mr. Pang Songtao accompanied them to visit the exhibition stand.

As a flagship product, “HPR1000” appeared again in this nuclear industry exhibition. “HPR1000” is a third-generation nuclear power technology independently researched and developed by China and has completely independent intellectual property rights. It adopts a single reactor layout, with single unit capacity of 1150MW, which is safe and efficient. CGN Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant Unit3 and Unit4 are demonstration projects of “HPR1000”, and their construction is progressing smoothly at present.

At this exhibition, CGN first displayed a series of self-developed nuclear power robots, including remote-control environmental monitoring robots, emergency rescue detection and multi-functional operation robots. With the growth of nuclear power units in operation, the use of advanced robot technology to solve the daily maintenance, fault treatment and other complex operations in the special environment of nuclear power station has become a focus in the development of global nuclear power.

Relying on the Nuclear-grade Equipment Research and Development Center of National Energy Nuclear Power Plant, focusing on the requirements of nuclear power field equipment detection, maintenance and fault handling, CGN develops special robots serving the nuclear power plant site to improve the intelligent level of nuclear power engineering and operation and maintenance. Up to now, CGN has completed the development of more than 30 kinds of nuclear power robots, covering nuclear daily operation and maintenance, nuclear emergency relief and nuclear facilities decommissioning, and many products have been successfully applied in Daya Bay, Yangjiang, Hongyanhe, Fangchenggang and other nuclear power bases.

CGN has also achieved innovative development in the field of nuclear technology application. After more than 10 years of R&D, CGN and Tsinghua University have made a series of major breakthroughs in the key technology, core equipment and engineering application of “electron beam pollution treatment technology”, and successfully applied it to many environmental treatment fields, such as industrial printing and dyeing wastewater treatment, antibiotic residue harmless treatment, medical wastewater treatment, garbage leachate treatment and so on. Relevant commercial projects have been completed and put into operation or under construction in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, Shiyan, Hubei Province, Yining, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Juancheng and Juye, Shandong Province. On June 5, 2020, the world's largest electron beam industrial wastewater treatment project was completed and put into operation in Jiangmen City, which is also the largest single project of the same kind in the world.

In the process of fighting the Novel coronavirus pneumonia, CGN relied on the technical advantages of the electron accelerator to free irradiation sterilization for 42 million medical materials and converts into wartime states to produce 17 thousand tons of medical mask melt blown materials, builds the project of electron beam treatment of medical wastewater in Shiyan, Hubei Province, and worked together to implement epidemic prevention and control.
In addition, CGN also demonstrated nuclear instrumentation and equipment, as well as nuclear fuel assembly repair, pressurizer electric heater replacement technology and other core nuclear power operation capabilities, which attracted wide attention at home and abroad.
The theme of the 16th China International Nuclear Exhibition is “Innovation Leading, Cooperation and Win-win”. As one of the largest nuclear industry exhibitions in the world, this exhibition brings together more than 100 enterprises at home and abroad. It not only comprehensively displays lots of innovative achievements in China nuclear power industry chain, but also shows China practice in the field of comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy and application of nuclear technology, as well as the positive results of international cooperation in nuclear energy.
