Recently, the result of the 7th “Guangdong Volunteer Service Gold, Silver and Bronze Award”, which is under the guidance of the Guangdong Provincial Civilization Office, Bureau of Civil Affairs and Communist Youth League, and sponsored by the Guangdong Volunteer Federation, was announced. CNPDC volunteer service team won the 7th “Guangdong Volunteer Service Gold Award” (collective) honor, and a total of 10 Units in Guangdong Province won gold awards.

Since its establishment in 2014, the CNPDC volunteer service team adheres to the principle of “doing volunteer work by using professional knowledge” and has accumulated more than 25320 hours of volunteer service and 379 service items. Over the years, the volunteer service team has successfully built a series of “three primary colors” volunteer service projects of red care, blue science popularization and green environmental protection, and actively sacrificed their own time one weekend after another, and gathered love little by little into light to convey the love and warmth of CGN people to the society.

CNPDC volunteer service team organizes blood donation
In terms of red care, the volunteer service team has carried out many activities around caring for the elderly, helping students, caring for the disabled, and donating blood without compensation. They helped students and went to the border to set up CGN dream book corner for seven primary and secondary schools in China. They care for the visually impaired groups, set up a “red AI help dream” professional disabled volunteer team, specially carry out volunteer training for the visually impaired, and provide high-quality volunteer services for the “See the World Without Eyes” Love Long Distance Running for visually impaired group sponsored by Shenzhen Disabled Persons Federation. Since 2015, the volunteer service team has organized more than 600 persons·times to participate in voluntary blood donation activities for six consecutive years. The total amount of blood donation reached 170000 ml, equivalent to the total blood volume of 35 adults.
CGN Future Scientists Summer Practice Camp
In terms of blue science popularization, the volunteer service team adheres to the exchange concept of “bringing in and going out”, relying on the only national key laboratory in the field of civil nuclear power in China, to carry out a series of voluntary service projects of “we blue Shenzhen” nuclear science popularization. CGN held the “future scientist” summer practice camp for five consecutive years, attracting students from many universities at home and abroad to gather in CGN to carry out relevant science popularization activities. In conjunction with Shenzhen Science Museum, a series of activities of “science popularization lecture hall” were jointly held for Shenzhen teenagers to popularize nuclear power knowledge, the “online promotion and offline publicity”, which was deeply loved by students and parents. Due to outstanding ideas and work, the “we blue Shenzhen” nuclear power science popularization series volunteer service project was awarded 2017 Guangdong Province “Yimiao Plan” Cultivation and Growth Project, and the Shenzhen excellent project of “Yimiao Plan” Guangdong Province Volunteer Service Organization Cultivation and Growth Support Action and Volunteer Service Competition.

In terms of green environmental protection, it is especially reflected in the series of environmental protection public welfare projects of “Green He Future” carried out by the volunteer team. The volunteer team established the first volunteer team of water treatment experts in Shenzhen, relying on the environmental management laboratory and water treatment experts of the Design Institute, the volunteer service team regularly carried out activities such as river water quality monitoring, river patrol and river protection, river cleaning, alien species prevention and control, water quality improvement training and other activities, forming a water quality monitoring database for many volunteers with professional knowledge of water treatment and willing to participate in environmental protection Water and environmental protection of the public, to provide professional and reliable data.
The volunteer service team has greatly mobilized the enthusiasm of the public to participate in the volunteer service of love and river protection through the popularization of water treatment knowledge to the masses. At the same time, the expert volunteers also make suggestions and offer advices for municipal water treatment projects from the aspects of river regulation, water saving, reclaimed water circulation, sewage supervision, etc., and excavating the difficult points of river treatment, and put forward professional solutions.
Due to its remarkable achievements, the “Green He Future” series of environmental protection public welfare projects won the key cultivation project of “Yimiao plan” of Guangdong Province in 2017, the gold award of Central Enterprise Youth Volunteer Service Competition and the “the best volunteer service project” of National Volunteer Service of Learning from Leifeng “Four 100” Advanced and Typical Volunteer Service Project.
In addition, the volunteer service team gives full play to the advantages of high foreign language level of team members and actively serves the society. It has participated in the high tech fair and Beijing Nuclear Industry Fair for five consecutive years, and has provided science popularization and explanation services for about 3000 exhibitors and more than 10000 public in more than 25 countries and regions. In September 2017, 82 excellent volunteers were sent to the Asia Pacific International Conference as social workers, serving as translator for international guests and security command personnels, which were widely recognized by the Organizing Committee and international guests. Moreover, in CBA Basketball, football international championship cup, marathon and other large-scale events, we can often see the figure of volunteer service teams.
