On August 27, the closing ceremony of the Guangdong Provincial Nuclear Power Plant Main Control Room Operator Professional Skills Competition and Nuclear Safety Elite Challenge was held at CGN Building. As one of the 55 vocational skills competitions of the first Guangdong Vocational Skills Competition in 2020, this competition aims to deeply implement the important directive spirits of Xi Jinping General Secretary on the training of skilled personnel, carry forward the trend of the times of “glorious labor”, “precious skills” and “great creation”, and comprehensively improve the safety skill level of enterprise personnel.
The competition is sponsored by the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province, organized by China General Nuclear Power Corporation (“CGN”), and co-organized by China Nuclear Power Operations Co., Ltd.
The individual competition of this Competition lasted more than 10 days, 98 operation shift supervisors and nuclear safety engineers from the nuclear power field went through three competition: theoretical examination, simulator practice, scenario simulation examination. In addition, on the evening of the 27th, the group competition comprised compulsory questions, quick response questions, challenging questions, after fierce competition, the team of Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. won the Team Champion, the team of Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. and the team of Yangjiang Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. won the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
In the 2020 Guangdong Provincial First Vocational Skills Competition, CGN hosted 4 competitions, including the Guangdong Provincial Nuclear Power Plant Main Control Room Operator Professional Skills Competition, Guangdong Provincial Nuclear Power Plant Electric Motor Maintenance and Troubleshooting Vocational Skills Competition, Guangdong Provincial Instrument Control Design and Maintenance Vocational Skills Competition, Guangdong Provincial Nuclear Power Plant Main Control Room Operator Professional Skills Competition (Nuclear Safety Elite Challenge). With the end of the competition, the four competitions hosted by CGN have all ended completely and successfully.
In the closing speech of the competition, Mr. Gao Ligang, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee of CGN , CEO of CGN Power, indicated that: CGN Party Committee earnestly implements Xi Jinping General Secretary directive spirit on nuclear safety, always adheres to “safety first, quality foremost, and pursuit of excellence”, continues to enhance the safety awareness and safety knowledge of all employees, and ensures nuclear safety is guaranteed. At the same time, he hopes that operation shift supervisors and nuclear safety engineers should constantly pursue capability improvement, always keep hungry for knowledge, never be satisfied, and should improve the ability through in-depth learning, carry out comprehensive extended learning in maintenance, design, equipment knowledge; keep a passion for work in the process of continuous improvement, the learning is endless, constantly pursue the improvement of ability only by keeping the passion for work.
CGN hosts four competitions, which attracts more than 600 contestants, and emerges a number of advanced models who safeguard nuclear safety and serve high-quality development by relying on skills, creates a strong atmosphere of learning skills and advocating skills, and encourages young people to become talents and develop enterprises with skills.
