CGN Power Announces 2026 Interim Results
2026-08-27

CGN Power Co., Ltd. ("CGN Power," HKEX: 1816.HK; SZSE: 003816.SZ) held its 2026 interim results conference call on August 26. In the first half of 2026, CGN Power maintained rigorous nuclear safety standards, ensured the safe and stable operation of units in service and the high-quality construction of units under construction, and sustained steady operating performance.

Rigorous Safety Management Underpins Operational Excellence

CGN Power places the highest priority on safety. In the first half of 2026, the company steadily advanced key internal and external initiatives in nuclear safety and safety management, implemented regulatory requirements, strengthened its nuclear safety accountability system, and developed an efficient nuclear safety management and oversight framework. It continued safety inspections across its nuclear power bases, advanced the standardization of workplace safety management, conducted emergency drills, and applied lessons learned, continually reinforcing nuclear safety awareness across its workforce. In the first half of the year, the company recorded no operating events rated Level 2 or above on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES).

CGN Power continued to raise the operating standards of its units, with the reactors under its management performing well. In the first half of 2026, nearly 90% of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) key performance indicators across the 28 operating units included in WANO's statistics ranked in the top 10% globally, an excellent level placing CGN Power among the world's leading operators.

Stable Unit Operations, Steady Financial Performance

In the first half of 2026, China's total electricity consumption rose 5.3% year on year, with overall supply and demand remaining balanced. CGN Power kept its operating nuclear units running safely and stably and continued working to ensure a secure power supply. During the period, the company delivered 109.597 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the grid, recorded revenue of RMB 31.483 billion, and achieved net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company of RMB 6.105 billion, up 2.7% year on year, maintaining steady operating performance.

Active, Safe and Orderly Development Supports China's Carbon Peaking Goals

In the first half of 2026, relevant national ministries issued a series of plans and measures on carbon peaking and the development of a new-type energy system. These set goals such as bringing operational nuclear power installed capacity to around 110 million kilowatts by 2030, advancing the integrated use of nuclear energy in light of local conditions, vigorously developing non-fossil energy and coastal nuclear power, and exploring mechanisms that recognize the low-carbon value of non-electric applications of nuclear and renewable energy, thereby supporting nuclear power development. As a stable and reliable baseload energy source with the lowest life-cycle carbon footprint, nuclear power will contribute to China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and the development of a new-type energy system. In the first half of 2026, CGN Power delivered significant power generation and environmental benefits. Compared with equivalent coal-fired generation, the electricity it delivered to the grid saved approximately 32.92 million metric tons of standard coal and avoided approximately 101 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

In July 2026, an executive meeting of the State Council approved eight new nuclear power units across four projects, including Units 5 and 6 of CGN Power's Huizhou Nuclear Power Project. As of August, three units, Units 1 and 2 of the Huizhou Nuclear Power Project and Unit 1 of the Cangnan Nuclear Power Project, had entered commercial operation so far this year, with other units under construction proceeding on schedule and to high quality, steadily expanding CGN Power's combined operating and under-construction capacity.

Pursuing Sustainable Development Through Long-Term Planning

Looking to a broader future, CGN Power has drawn up its 15th Five-Year Development Plan for the Nuclear Power Industry, which has been approved by its board of directors. The plan aims to fully establish CGN Power as a globally competitive, world-class nuclear energy company by 2035. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the company will keep sight of that 2035 vision, with absolute nuclear safety as its non-negotiable foundation, and focus on leading the industry in production and operations, engineering and construction, market development, technological innovation, digital and intelligent empowerment, and operating performance. It will work to strengthen its foundations, build on its strengths, address weaknesses and shore up gaps, driving the industry to grow steadier, better, stronger and larger, and achieving development that is safer, more capable, higher-quality, more efficient and more sustainable.
