China General Nuclear Power Corporation ("CGN") is an ultra-large clean energy central enterprise with nuclear power as its core business, controlled by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). At present, CGN has more than 50,000 employees, 5 listed companies, 930 member companies, with total assets exceeding one trillion yuan. Its installed clean energy capacity has surpassed 100 GW, with business operations covering nuclear power, nuclear fuel, new energy, non-power nuclear technology, digitalization, tech-based environmental protection, and industrial finance, spanning more than 20 countries worldwide.
To date, CGN has achieved large-scale and cluster development and operation in the fields of nuclear power, wind power, solar power, and energy storage, ranking among the leaders in the industry in terms of scale and efficiency.Over the past decade, CGN has successfully commissioned 22 nuclear power units, with the Hualong One (HPR1000) demonstration project—Fangchenggang Phase II—fully completed and put into operation. Sixteen additional units have been approved for construction at sites such as Huizhou, Cangnan, Lufeng, Ningde, and Zhaoyuan. Safety and operation performance of the operating nuclear units have reached world's advanced level, while the safety and quality performance of units under construction continue to improve.Among them, 24 CPR units achieved a capacity factor of 93.1%, maintaining world's advanced level for six consecutive years. In the nuclear sector, CGN has established a standardized product portfolio centered on Hualong One (HPR1000), small pressurized water reactors, and advanced reactor types. The Hualong One (HPR1000) Generation III nuclear power technology has passed both the European Utility Requirements (EUR) certification and the UK Generic Design Assessment (GDA). The independently developed “FirmSys” nuclear-grade digital instrumentation and control system has been successfully applied on a large scale to multiple reactor types within China. In the field of new energy,we continued to advance the technological development of offshore wind power and offshore solar power, and completed the state-level solar power R&D center.
CGN adheres to a new model of integrated development to promote industrial diversification and vigorously advances the implementation of its “Clean Energy+” strategy, accelerating the construction of a new pattern of high-quality clean energy development. We actively explore integrated development models such as Nuclear Energy+, New Energy+, and Solar Thermal+, linking clean energy development with rural revitalization, social well-being, and environmental governance. Representative projects include photovoltaic sand control, marine ranching, and integrated fishery-solar initiatives. Landmark projects have been completed, such as the 3 GW wind power base in Xing’an League, Inner Mongolia, the “Fuxi No. 1” large-scale offshore wind-fishery integrated cage platform in Shanwei, and China’s first large-scale nearshore fixed-foundation offshore photovoltaic project.CGN is also accelerating the development of emerging industries, including nuclear technology applications, digitalization, and tech-based environmental protection. In addition, CGN steadily promotes internationalization, with business operations covering more than 20 countries worldwide. In partnership with Electricité de France (EDF), construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in the United Kingdom is under way. CGN has invested in and developed non-nuclear clean energy projects in countries along the Belt and Road, with a total installed capacity exceeding 14 GW.
