Recently, the launching ceremony of the Gas Turbine Skills Training Center of China General Nuclear Energy International Holdings Co., Ltd. was held at the EMPP Power Plant Innovation Center in Malaysia, where multiple strategic cooperation agreements on industry training were signed on-site. This center is the first professional gas turbine skills training center in Malaysia and the first gas turbine professional training base of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), completing an important piece of the puzzle in CGN's global talent development system and helping CGN deepen its presence in overseas gas-fired power and regional energy cooperation. Mr. Pang Songtao, General Manager of China General Nuclear Power Corporation Co., Ltd., and Li Yilun, Vice General Manager, attended the activity.

Mr. Pang Songtao stated, "With its unique advantages of being clean, efficient, flexible in startup and shutdown, responsive, and capable of rapid peak shaving, gas-fired power generation has become an indispensable and important component of the new-type power system, ushering in an unprecedented strategic development opportunity." He also pointed out that along with the rapid development of the global gas turbine industry and the continuous expansion of regional installed capacity, systematic, standardized, and practice-oriented talent development and technical empowerment are the core supports to the safe, stable, and long-term development of the gas turbine industry.
Malaysia's installed gas-fired power generation capacity has reached 19 GW, accounting for 50% of the country's total installed capacity, leaving significant room for capacity expansion and a widening gap in local professional gas turbine talent. Based on regional demand, CGN Energy International is firmly promoting the "Gas-fired Power Leadership Plan" and continuously driving the technology iteration and upgrading of the gas turbine industry by hosting the Global Gas Turbine Power Generation Summit, establishing the Gas Turbine Power Generation Committee, and defining five major key directions for scientific and technological R&D. Currently, the company has secured over ten patents in the field of gas-fired power generation and released the "Indicator System for Gas Turbine Power Generation Operation and Maintenance under International Two-Part Tariff Power Purchase and Sale Contracts", filling the gap in industry standards and exporting the mature "CGN solution" for the development of the global gas turbine industry.
Leveraging its mature gas-fired power industry expertise and Malaysia's geographical advantages, the training center adopts CGN's standardized training management model and has established four working groups. A talent development platform has been built by forming a teaching team composed of internal backbone staff and forging partnerships with industry institutions; At the same time, the training center aligns with local energy planning and power safety systems to develop a localized standardized training and certification platform. Externally, it promotes cross-sector technical exchange and industry development; internally, it coordinates training resources both at home and abroad to facilitate the sharing and mutual recognition of faculty, curricula, and certifications, thereby strengthening the foundation for the safe operation of generating units.
During the event, the training center reached and signed cooperation agreements with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia, the Occupational Safety and Health Association, and the Boiler and Power Certification Training Company. All parties will integrate resources to develop curricula, promote safe operation and maintenance standards, and work together to cultivate local energy skilled talent.
Looking ahead, CGN Energy International will continue to advance its "Gas-fired Power Leadership Plan," using the training center as a key platform to establish a presence in Malaysia and extend its reach across Southeast Asia. It aims to refine the training ecosystem for gas power professionals, deepen technical collaboration and innovation, and strengthen the foundation for overseas gas-fired power operations. By doing so, it will enhance the brand image of China-Malaysia energy cooperation and sustain its contribution to the regional energy transition.
