On February 2, CGN Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hongyanhe Nuclear Power") officially released its 2025 operational and development performance report, showing that the plant achieved a full-year grid-connected power generation of 49.15 billion kWh, a new historical high.
Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station is located in Hongyanhe Town, Wafangdian City, Dalian, Liaoning. In June 2022, all six units of Phase I and Phase II of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station were fully completed and put into operation, with a total installed capacity of 6.71 million kW and a total investment of RMB 90 billion.
According to Zhang Weidong, spokesperson for Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power, the plant's grid-connected power generation has steadily increased since commissioning. As of December 31, 2025, Hongyanhe Nuclear Power's cumulative grid-connected power generation reached 380.869 billion kWh. Compared to a coal-fired power plant of the same scale, this is equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by about 115 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by about 352 million tons, which is equivalent to forming a forest covering 857,000 hectares across Liaoning.
Zhang Weidong stated that in 2025, all six units at Hongyanhe Nuclear Power were under full control throughout the year, maintaining a good nuclear safety status. There were no unplanned shutdowns or scrams, achieving the annual work safety targets. The plant successfully completed three major overhauls during the year, with safety and quality conditions remaining controllable.
In November 2022, Northeast China's first nuclear heating project—the Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station nuclear heating demonstration project—was officially put into operation. The project uses steam turbine extraction steam from the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station as a heat source to provide clean heating for Hongyanhe Town. Zhang Weidong said that the nuclear heating demonstration project has been in operation for four heating seasons with good heating performance, allowing nearly 20,000 residents of Hongyanhe Town to enjoy another warm winter without any carbon emission.

As the first nuclear power plant in Northeast China and the largest energy base in the region, Hongyanhe Nuclear Power is guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Anchored in the goal of high-quality development and deeply practicing the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," the plant has activated new quality productive forces through technological innovation. It achieved a full-year grid-connected power generation of 49.15 billion kWh, a new historical high. The six units have cumulatively generated 380.869 billion kWh of grid-connected power, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 352 million tons. This reflects an annual performance characterized by "stable safety, strong innovation, excellent ecology, and solid responsibility," contributing to Northeast China's energy supply, ecological protection, and the comprehensive revitalization of Liaoning.

Strengthening the foundation of safety for more solid high-quality development.
Safety is the lifeline of nuclear power development. In 2025, Hongyanhe Nuclear Power strictly implemented the work requirements of the National Nuclear Safety Administration: "absolute responsibility, highest standards, systematic operation, and experience feedback." By practicing a work style of "rigor, prudence, meticulousness, and practicality," the plant has maintained a stable work safety situation and successfully ensured power supply during important holidays and major special events. All six units were under full control throughout the year, with a good nuclear safety status and no unplanned shutdowns or scrams. The annual work safety goals of "two preventions" (preventing serious or fatal personal accidents and major or more severe quality accidents) and "six zeros" (zero fatalities, zero pollution, zero occupational diseases, zero fires, zero explosions, and zero mass incidents) were successfully achieved. Its industrial safety indicators reached the excellent level of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO).

Hongyanhe Nuclear Power utilizes CPR1000 and ACPR1000 nuclear technologies with third-generation features, providing a solid support for safe operation. In 2025, 88.9% of its WANO indicators entered the world's advanced ranks (WANO indicators are the common metrics for measuring unit performance in the global nuclear power industry). The unit capacity factor increased to 95.19%, and five units received a full score for their WANO composite index. The plant successfully completed three major overhauls during the year, with safety and quality conditions remaining controllable. The vibration status of rotating equipment after each overhaul reached its best historical level, and the plant's foreign object management level has maintained the highest ranking among all CGN plants for many consecutive years.
Activating new quality productive forces for stronger innovation and development momentum.
In 2025, Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant focused on digital and intelligent transformation to accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces, with several technological innovations filling gaps in the industry. The domestic nuclear power industry's first automatic nuclear power calibration system was officially put into operation at Unit 5. This achievement won the first prize in the China Equipment Maintenance and Transformation Innovation Achievement Competition and was selected as a "National Innovative Leading Application Case in the Field of Electromechanical Equipment Maintenance, Transformation, and Remanufacturing." Meanwhile, the modification of the redundant positioner for ARE system main feedwater regulating valve was completed, marking the first operational deployment of such a modification in a domestic power plant. This significantly enhanced the reliability of critical equipment and has shown excellent operational results.

With the continuous deepening of digital and intelligent applications, the 500kV and 220kV switchyard intelligent inspection robots were officially deployed. They can complete in 3 hours inspection tasks that previously required two O&M personnel nearly a week to finish, reducing manual workload by about 90% and significantly improving inspection quality and frequency. In addition, innovative achievements such as the nation's first fully autonomous nuclear power overhead line inspection system and the duct cleaning robot for nuclear island ventilation system have been implemented and proven effective, accelerating the digital transformation towards the benchmark of smart nuclear power. The R&D projects carried out throughout the year yielded significant results, with a total of 189 intellectual property authorizations, including 20 invention patents. Several achievements received science and technology awards from CGN and national industry associations.
Practicing the "Two Mountains" theory for better ecological protection results.
