On April 22, the 2026 China International Nuclear Industry Exhibition opened at the Beijing Exhibition Center under the theme "Innovation-Led, Cooperation-Empowered: Driving Sustainable Development of the Nuclear Industry." China General Nuclear Power Group made a major appearance at the exhibition, presenting its innovation achievements across the entire industrial chain — from independent third-generation nuclear power and intelligent equipment to civil applications of nuclear technology. The Group also launched its "Hedao" series of independent innovation products, comprehensively demonstrating its core technological strength and becoming a landmark attraction at the exhibition.

The centerpiece of the exhibition zone, the "Integrated Clean Energy Solutions" electronic sand table, used three color-coded scenarios — orange, green, and blue — to vividly illustrate how CGN is empowering a dynamic China with nuclear, wind, and solar power; safeguarding a healthy China with proton therapy and medical isotopes; and securing a safe China with energy security and security inspection technologies, while also bringing together green energy to brighten a Beautiful China.
CGN is a central state-owned enterprise that has grown alongside China's reform and opening-up. With over 40 years of deep commitment to the clean energy sector, it has built a "6+1" industrial system covering seven major fields: nuclear energy, nuclear fuel, new energy, nuclear technology applications, digital technology, environmental protection technology, and industrial services. To date, the Group's controlled and operated clean energy installed capacity exceeds 110 GW, including 10 nuclear power bases, with a total of 48 nuclear power units in operation and under construction, representing an installed capacity of nearly 56 GW.
Hualong One Batch Construction Reaches Another Milestone

As a "national calling card" for China's independent third-generation nuclear power technology, the Hualong One once again drew significant attention at the exhibition. Meanwhile, CGN's batch construction of Hualong One units reached another milestone with the high-quality commissioning of Unit 1 of the Guangdong Huizhou Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant this week, bringing the number of CGN's operating Hualong One units to three, with a total installed capacity of approximately 3,483 MWe. Currently, CGN is accelerating the batch construction of Hualong One units, with 17 units under construction having a total installed capacity of about 19,737 MWe. Building on the mature practices of batch construction, CGN continues to drive iterative innovation in Hualong One technology, further polishing this "national calling card" for nuclear power and injecting strong nuclear momentum into the green transformation of the energy mix, national energy security, and the achievement of the "dual carbon" goals.
Intelligent Equipment and Software Fortify the Foundation of Nuclear Power Safety

The "Hehui" instrumentation and control system, as well as "Hehui" intelligent equipment and robots, enable intelligent and autonomous operation, maintenance, and emergency repair of nuclear power plants. Advanced construction technologies facilitate modular construction, improving construction efficiency and shortening project timelines, thereby supporting the high-quality delivery of nuclear power projects. The nuclear island fuel loading inspection robot achieves full underwater visibility, 3D intelligent navigation, autonomous cruise, and obstacle avoidance, enabling precise inspection of core fuel assemblies. The "Lanting" core and nuclear fuel design software package, which includes over 40 core software applications, can be used for the research, development, design, and operation of large and small pressurized water reactors, laying a solid foundation for China's nuclear power industry to master core technologies and achieve high-quality development. A range of equipment, including nuclear-grade permanent magnet couplings and supercritical water oxidation technology, covers the entire nuclear power lifecycle, building a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible foundation for nuclear power plant operation.
Fuel Industry Secures Nuclear Power's "Food Supply"

Nuclear fuel is the "food" for nuclear power. CGN has established an industrial layout characterized as "Two Strengths, Two Excellences, and One New Area," covering the entire chain from uranium resources and fuel assembly manufacturing to nuclear fuel supply assurance and back-end management. This has enabled a global footprint in uranium resources and independent, controllable fuel assembly manufacturing, providing solid fuel supply assurance to safeguard the high-quality development of nuclear power.
Digital Technology Fortifies the "Brain and Nerves" of Nuclear Power

The "Hemu System," China's first nuclear safety-grade digital I&C system independently developed by CGN, has been deployed in 33 nuclear power units in operation and under construction, including Hualong One, VVER, and high-temperature gas-cooled reactor units, covering all technologies from second-generation to fourth-generation nuclear power. The INICS next-generation intelligent I&C system for nuclear power is building a diversified industrial control ecosystem. Frontline technologies such as digital twins and 5G positioning are being deeply applied, comprehensively enhancing the safety and efficiency of nuclear power operation and helping the nuclear power industry achieve new breakthroughs in digital and intelligent transformation.
Nuclear Technology Applications Shine with Brilliant Highlights

Nuclear technology extends far beyond power generation — it is deeply integrated into such areas of public wellbeing as healthcare, public safety, and environmental protection. The "Hezhi" proton therapy system represents globally leading tumor radiotherapy technology, enabling "precise destruction" of tumors and helping to make advanced medical care more accessible. Medical isotopes and germanium-gallium generators serve as core materials for the precise diagnosis and treatment of major diseases, helping to address the clinical challenges of short half-lives and limited supply. Electron beam irradiation products for sterilization and modification are free of chemical residues and are used for medical device sterilization, food preservation, and high-end material modification, covering sectors including healthcare, food, and semiconductors. Intelligent security screening combined with radiation monitoring — including CT baggage inspection and millimeter-wave body scanners — enables simultaneous inspection of both people and their belongings. Also on display at the exhibition were products such as wrist-watch-type personal dosimeters, nuclear industry materials and components, and three-dimensional emergency radiation monitoring systems, demonstrating how nuclear technology is truly delivering value for the public, benefiting people's daily lives, and serving society.

"Hedao" Series of CGN's Independent Innovation Products Makes Its Debut
During the exhibition, CGN launched its "Hedao" series of independent innovation products for the first time. The four products cover the areas of operational monitoring, core components, environmental treatment, and power supply assurance, providing independent and controllable hardcore support for critical aspects of nuclear power safety.

"Hedao Shengrui"
Main Pump Monitoring System

The "Hedao Shengrui" main pump monitoring system provides round-the-clock health management services for the reactor coolant pump — the "heart" of a nuclear power plant. It enables online monitoring, intelligent a1erting, fault diagnosis, and life prediction. An innovative signal transmission scheme improves the system's anti-interference capability by nearly 100 times, while sensor installation and removal time has been reduced from 1 hour to 10 minutes, significantly lowering on-site operational risks for personnel. During the 30-year major overhaul of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, the system assisted in achieving a successful balance weight on the first attempt for the main pump dynamic balance test, reducing critical path time for the overhaul by nearly 12 hours and effectively improving maintenance efficiency. To date, the system has been granted multiple patents and has received the "Five New" Technology Achievement Award for nuclear power engineering.
"Hedao Shengdun"
Irradiation Monitoring Tube

The "Hedao Shengdun" focuses on domestic substitution. Its innovative product, the reactor pressure vessel irradiation monitoring tube, acts as a "surveillance sentinel" for the pressure vessel, enabling real-time tracking of material property changes under neutron irradiation and providing critical data for safe operation and life assessment. Certified by the China Nuclear Energy Industry Association, its performance has reached the advanced level of comparable foreign products, breaking the long-standing foreign monopoly on this component. Since localization, the cost has been reduced by approximately 30%. The use of vacuum electron beam welding and dual-medium seal verification has improved process reliability, ensuring the security of the supply chain for key nuclear power equipment.
"Hedao Sheng'an"
Heat Pump Evaporation Unit

The "Hedao Sheng'an" is a new high-efficiency heat pump evaporation unit developed to address industry challenges. It can be used for radioactive liquid waste treatment and represents the first independent application of heat pump evaporation technology in a domestic nuclear power plant. Compared with conventional evaporation technology, it reduces energy consumption by over 85% and achieves a significantly higher decontamination factor. Its modular design requires a smaller footprint and shorter construction time. Certified as reaching internationally advanced levels in key performance indicators, the unit transforms liquid waste treatment from an energy-intensive process into an energy-saving one, contributing to the green and low-carbon development of nuclear power.
"Hedao Shengchuang"
Distributed Power Supply System

The "Hedao Shengchuang" distributed power supply system revolutionizes the traditional emergency power supply model by upgrading a single large diesel generator set into a miniaturized, integrated, and online-repairable smart power supply cluster. The time from start-up signal to successful parallel operation is less than 15 seconds, with significantly improved equipment reliability, providing a new solution for emergency safety in nuclear power plants.
From core equipment monitoring to the self-reliance of key materials, from breakthroughs in environmental protection technology to innovation in power supply assurance, the "Hedao" series products — a significant achievement of CGN's persistent efforts in technological and independent innovation — have been deployed at scale in nuclear power projects including Guangxi Fangchenggang Phase II, Guangdong Taipingling Phase I, and Zhejiang San'ao Phase I, serving more than 8 nuclear power units and receiving unanimous recognition from users.
