On May 8, the CGN New Energy Yuanjiang Linghang 100 MW / 200 MWh new-type shared energy storage station in Yunnan was successfully connected to the grid at full capacity. This provides strong support for the safe and stable operation of the Yunnan Yuxi regional power grid and the efficient integration of renewable energy, while also marking a solid step forward for the local area in building a new-type power system and advancing the green and low-carbon transition.

The station is located in Yuanjiang County, Yuxi City, Yunnan Province. It has a designed capacity of 100 MW / 200 MWh, and includes the construction of one 110 kV step-up substation and 20 energy storage units each of 5 MWh. The project adopts a lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage technology route and applies internationally leading grid-forming technology, significantly enhancing the energy storage system's active support capability for the power grid. This technology not only effectively smooths the output fluctuations of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power, markedly improving grid integration capacity, but also offers advantages including strong thermal stability, high structural safety, long cycle life, and the absence of heavy metal pollution in the electrolyte. It has accumulated valuable experience for the commercial demonstration and large-scale application of new-type energy storage in Yunnan, and provides strong technical support for building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient modern energy system.

Once operational, the station is expected to discharge approximately 65.7 GWh of electricity to the grid annually, equivalent to saving about 19,700 tonnes of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 59,100 tonnes per year, thereby continuously improving the regional ecological environment. Going forward, the CGN project team will steadily carry out subsequent fine-tuning and professional operation, strictly implement the workplace safety responsibility system, rigorously enforce quality control, and ensure the long-term safe, efficient, and stable operation of the energy storage station. This will inject lasting momentum into the green development of Yuanjiang County and support the high-quality economic and social development of the region.
